Effective 1 August 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how Factelle LLC (“Factelle”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit Factelle, subscribe, contact us, contribute content, advertise, create an account or otherwise use our services.
Information you provide
We may collect your name, email address, message content, newsletter choices, account details, contributor profile, pitches, advertising enquiries, correction or complaint information, and documents or other material you choose to send. Please avoid sending information that is unnecessary for your request.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting, security and content-delivery systems may process IP address, browser and device details, requested URLs, timestamps, referral information, approximate location, diagnostic events and security logs. Optional analytics or advertising data is processed only as described in the consent controls and Cookie Policy.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the website; deliver requested pages and features; manage newsletter subscriptions; respond to messages, complaints and rights requests; review contributions and advertising enquiries; prevent fraud and abuse; measure performance where permitted; maintain records; and comply with law.
Legal bases where applicable
Depending on the service and applicable law, processing may rely on consent, performance of a contract or requested pre-contract steps, compliance with a legal obligation, protection of vital interests, or our legitimate interests in publishing, security, administration, audience service and the defence of legal rights. You may withdraw consent prospectively at any time.
Newsletter and communications
We send marketing or editorial newsletters only where permitted, including through consent where required. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or by contacting privacy@factelle.com. We may still send non-marketing messages needed to complete a request, protect an account or comply with law.
How information is shared
We may share information with providers that support hosting, security, email delivery, analytics, advertising, publishing, forms, professional advice and business administration; with contributors or relevant parties when needed to investigate an editorial matter; or with authorities and other parties where law, safety or legal rights require it. Providers receive only what is reasonably needed for their role.
No sale of subscriber lists
Factelle LLC does not sell private newsletter subscriber lists. Some privacy laws define targeted advertising disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing” even without money changing hands. Where applicable, Cookie Settings and recognised browser signals provide the required choice.
International processing
Factelle and its providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use an available lawful transfer mechanism and proportionate safeguards. Local law may differ from the law in your home jurisdiction.
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, legal or contractual duties, security, dispute resolution and the establishment or defence of claims. Retention varies by record type. Newsletter records are retained while subscribed and for a limited suppression record afterward; security logs are generally kept for a shorter operational period unless an incident requires longer retention.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details or highly sensitive material through ordinary contact forms.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to know or access personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, opt out of certain targeted advertising or disclosures, and appeal a decision. You may also complain to an appropriate privacy regulator.
California and similar US rights
Where applicable law grants these rights, residents may request information about categories and specific pieces of personal information, sources, purposes, disclosures and recipients; request correction or deletion; and opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. Factelle will not unlawfully discriminate because you exercise a privacy right.
Global Privacy Control
Where required by applicable law and technically detectable, we treat a valid Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request for the browser or device sending it. Cookie Settings remains available for choices not communicated by that signal.
Children
Factelle is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 through a child-directed service. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information may contact privacy@factelle.com.
External links and services
Articles may link to third-party websites, embeds, platforms or AI assistants. Their privacy practices and terms are their own. Optional third-party content may remain blocked until the relevant consent choice is made.
How to make a request
Email privacy@factelle.com with the subject “Privacy Request” and describe the right you want to exercise. We may verify identity and authority using information proportionate to the request. An authorised agent may be required to provide proof of authority. We respond within the period required by applicable law.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. Material changes will be identified by a revised effective date or additional notice where appropriate.
