Purpose and responsibility
Factelle LLC publishes journalism intended to inform readers accurately, fairly and independently. A named human editor or author is accountable for every published article, including material produced with approved technical assistance.
Accuracy before speed
We check names, dates, quotations, numbers, images, documents and material claims in proportion to their significance and potential harm. Where facts remain uncertain or developing, we identify the uncertainty and update the story as reliable evidence changes.
Sources and attribution
We prefer original documents, direct observation, on-record interviews, raw data, peer-reviewed research and recognised expert bodies. Secondary reporting is credited. Anonymous sources require a legitimate public-interest reason, known identity to an editor and appropriate corroboration.
Fairness and right of reply
People and organisations facing significant criticism or allegations should normally receive a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. Their response, a fair summary or the fact that they did not respond should be included where relevant.
Headlines, images and context
Headlines, captions, thumbnails, social posts and search descriptions should fairly represent the underlying article. Images and video must not be used in a materially misleading context. Editing for brevity must not reverse or distort meaning.
Opinion, analysis and reviews
Commentary and analysis are labelled or made clear by context and must rest on an honest factual basis. Reviews reflect independent judgment; material gifts, travel, product access or affiliate relationships are disclosed.
Privacy, dignity and harm
We balance the public interest against privacy, safety and dignity, particularly for children, victims, bereaved families and vulnerable people. Graphic, identifying or intrusive details require a clear editorial justification.
Conflicts and independence
Writers and editors disclose interests that could reasonably affect their work. Commercial partners do not control independent coverage. Where a conflict cannot be managed through disclosure or additional review, reassignment or recusal may be required.
Corrections and updates
Material factual errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Significant additions may be labelled as updates. We do not remove accurate public-interest reporting merely because it is inconvenient.
Artificial intelligence
Approved AI tools may assist limited production tasks, but they do not replace source verification, human judgment or editorial accountability. Generated claims, quotations and media must never be published without appropriate verification and disclosure.
